The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception is the patron church of the United States as well as its preeminent Marian Shrine.  Affectionately referred to as America’s Catholic Church as well as Mary's Shrine, the Basilica is a national sanctuary of prayer and pilgrimage.  Our mission is to proclaim the great story of faith, which continues to unfold in our time.  As you may know, the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception has no home parish.  We depend solely on the generous offerings of Catholics like you to continue our mission serving as a sanctuary of prayer and pilgrimage for hundreds of thousands of our brothers and sisters in Christ.  So please, if you can, consider making an offering to this National Shrine.  Your voluntary gifts enable us to continue our ministry.  Thank you for your support and generosity.  There are several ways you can become a benefactor to the Shrine:

“This magnificent Basilica was designed, funded, and built by Americans throughout the last century.  Where many of the great cathedrals in Europe were funded by rulers or nobility, America’s Catholic Church was always supported by our country’s faithful.  The National Shrine stands in our nation’s capital as one of the ten largest churches in the world, a fitting tribute to the Patroness of the United States, Mary Immaculate.  Its architectural style is uniquely American and its various chapels represent the many cultural backgrounds of Catholics in the United States.

“This majestic church is the result of a century’s worth of the labor and love of a long line of American Catholics.  Through your generous support you become part of that line.  You participate in the tradition of support that has made the National Shrine a reality.”

-Reverend Monsignor Walter R. Rossi, Rector
