Volunteer
Volunteers from the surrounding Washington, DC metro area (the District of Columbia, Suburban Maryland and Northern Virginia) play a vital role in the ministry of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
Volunteers serve as Altar Servers, Lectors, Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist, Ushers, Receptionists, Docents/Tour Guides, Doctors and Nurses.
To volunteer as an Altar Server, Lector or Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, please contact the Basilica’s Liturgy Department at 202-526-8300.
To volunteer as an Usher, please contact your local Knights of Columbus Council to see how your local council may become involved in our Knights of Columbus Usher Ministry.
To volunteer to serve as a Receptionist at one of our Information Desks, a Docent/Tour Guide to give Guided Tours, or if you are a Doctor or Nurse who could provide First Aid to visitors guests during large events, please click here.
High School Students also have the opportunity to gain community service credit for providing volunteer service at the Basilica. For more information, please contact Sister Miriam MacLean at 202-526-8300.
