The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception will provide meals for hundreds of poor, homeless, elderly, and needy individuals living in the District of Columbia and surrounding areas on Christmas Day. More than one thousand Christmas dinners are served each year in the National Shrine Cafeteria and another thousand are delivered to shut-ins.
Volunteers are needed to fill many different positions. If you are able to help out, either at the Basilica or by delivering meals, a registration link will be posted here when it opens.
Please PRINT and bring your ticket with you the day of the event. It has your volunteer role and time-slot printed on it and this will make check-in much faster. Please take note of the time and position for which you have registered. Because of the large number of Christmas Day Volunteers please do not arrive earlier than the time your particular job begins. Please report to the Visitors’ Center upon arrival to sign-in. There will be name tags and coat racks (no valuables, please) in the Visitors’ Center. Any questions you may have, please feel free to address them to the coordinators in the Visitors’ Center.
