The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and the Archdiocese of Washington will host a symposium exploring how Pope Francis’ Apostolic Exhortation, Gaudete et Exultate, can influence the life of a parish and the individual on October 6 at 9:30am. Join us for presentations by Drs. Ian Boxall and Robin Darling Young of the faculty of The Catholic University of America, and Father Bill Byrne, Pastor of Our Lady of Mercy, Potomac, MD. The day will include panel discussions, dialogue, and conclude with Mass celebrated by His Eminence Cardinal Donald Wuerl.

Earlier this year, Pope Francis issued the Apostolic Exhortation in order to highlight the call to holiness for each of us in today’s world. In this remarkable document the Holy Father emphasizes the possibility and signs of holiness in the modern world, how to advance in holiness, and challenges to its growth. The symposium is intended for clergy and parish lay leaders, as well as other interested Catholics.

This event is open to the public; no tickets are required but an online RSVP would be helpful. For more information or to RSVP please visit www.nationalshrine.com/symposium or call (202) 526-8300. The talks and discussion sessions will be live streamed. The Basilica is located at 400 Michigan Ave NE and offers ample free parking, it is walking distance from the Brookland-CUA Station on Metro’s Red Line.
