Tuesday, October 9th at 9:00 a.m.

Please note the Symposium originally scheduled for this Saturday, October 6th at the Basilica has been cancelled. We apologize for any inconvenience.

The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and the Archdiocese of Washington will host a symposium exploring how Pope Francis’ Apostolic Exhortation, Gaudete et Exultate, can influence the life of a parish and the individual. Join us on YouTube for presentations by Dr. Ian Boxall of the faculty of The Catholic University of America, and Father Bill Byrne, Pastor of Our Lady of Mercy, Potomac, MD.

Earlier this year, Pope Francis issued the Apostolic Exhortation in order to highlight the call to holiness for each of us in today’s world. In this remarkable document the Holy Father emphasizes the possibility and signs of holiness in the modern world, how to advance in holiness, and challenges to its growth. The symposium is intended for clergy and parish lay leaders, as well as other interested Catholics.

This event is online only; videos of the presentations will be available on Tuesday, October 9, at 9:00 a.m.
